SIAHT Medical Billing and Insurance Specialist
allow graduates to work as an insurance specialist, medical biller, and administrative assistant. Students learn about medical terminology,anatomy and physiology, diagnostic coding, procedural coding and general insurance concepts along with ICD-10 and new rules for billing and coding.
Graduates are eligible to sit for the AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) CCS and CCA exam and NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) NCICS exam. Students use AHIMA software for online medical office procedures focusing on real time experience and case studies related to medical billing during their internship in the program.
The curriculum consists of the following courses:
Anatomy and Physiology
Medical Coding I
Medical Coding II
Healthcare Insurance and Reimbursement
Medical Billing and Insurance Internship
Project for Medical Billing and Insurance Specialist
Out of state students also are able to give the AHIMA or NCCT exam. The tuition is also the same as for students from the state of Illinois.
