Pharmacy technicians, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, help the pharmacists provide medication andother health care products to patients and consumers. Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles. They also perform administrative duties, such as answering phones, stocking shelves, and operating cash registers. SIAHT pharmacy technician program prepares students to be able to successfully perform functions in different pharmacy environment. Students are required to complete a 200-hour externship as a part of the program. SIAHT has partnered with Walgreens and students in the Pharmacy Technician program complete their externship in Walgreens.
Students in Pharmacy Technician Program are eligible to sit for PTCB(Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) CPT exam after they graduate from the program.
